The importance of CAS

The importance of CAS in globalized world
What is CAS?
CAS is one of the three essential elements that every student must complete as part of the Diploma Programme. Saint Augustine School has CAS projects such as Santa Rosa de Llanavilla School, Nurssing Home San Judas Tadeo, etc. This project involves every student of 4th and 5th grade of secondary. The reason why I chose this topic is  to encourage other people to get involved in social projects like CAS.

What are the components of CAS?
CAS has 8 objectives that every student need to complete. Also CAS has three components: Creativity, Activity and Service. The projects need to be related to CAS projects. Doing CAS you can learn more about yourself when you share about your experiences with other people, for example you can learn to hear opinions and different ideas from other people. In the world there are many people who have different ideas of how to change the world. The purpose could be the one but the way could be different.

Transcendence of social projects
IB programmes are the perfect excuse to change the world in a better world. You can transcend with many actions, like talking with other people about world problems and discussing for a solution. Also you can be involved with social projects, such as teaching English in public schools, cleaning beaches or maybe promoting a campaign about taking care of the sea life. There are many projects you and your friends can do. Just do it! With reference of the International Baccalaureate, CAS provides opportunities for self – determination and collaboration with others, fostering a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from their work.

Finally, I would like to invite you to create a social project with your friends, could be as simple as cleaning a beach or promoting a campaign, but you need to keep in mind that with your project you are helping to create a better world.
